The historical laboratory in the documentary Y-History: “Syphilis Is Back”
In this Y-History film, Y-reporter Helena Brinkmann explores syphilis, a dangerous disease that has for centuries intertwined suffering, desire, and shame—and which is now on the rise again. At the Georg-Speyer-Haus, Paul Ehrlich discovered the first drug to treat this disease and, with it, the first chemotherapeutic agent. The historic laboratory and Dr. Klaus Cußler are featured in the film, which is now available in the ARD media library. (German only)
